Overwhelmed

The tree grew as many oranges as it could because it loved growing them. As each orange grew, it got heavier & heavier until the tree began to bend.

But the tree still loved growing oranges, no matter how overwhelmed it became, and it refused to drop them.

It's Losing Its Oranges

This tree is worried that it's losing its oranges. But that's just how it is. Orange-making is its specialty anyway.

It's time to get your orange-catching net out of the garage and dust it off.

No Picking of Unripe Oranges

Oranges hate being picked before they have ripened.

It makes them feel deprived of the ability to reach their maximum potential sweetness. And every orange wants nothing more but to be sweet.

Every morning, all the new oranges on this tree leap off their branches and into the soft grass. This tree is known as a leaping orange tree.

Happy belated Halloween, everyone.

Extremes

There are sweet little surprises waiting for you on top of tall mounds and plunging valleys. These little clementines make it worth the trip.

(For those of you who still remember your calculus, they're at the local extrema!)

Inside Every Orange

Whenever you open an orange, you find magic inside.
As with most of my newer posts, I made this as a vector drawing, so it can be printed at any size without loss of quality.

Playing With Fire

Here's a risk-taker who plays with fire, and who thinks that fresh green leaves aren’t flammable.

However, it doesn’t realize that its leaf and stem are drying out as the days go by.

Juggle

This orange almost dropped one of the lemons it was juggling. Good thing lemons are so sour that dropping them can only make them sweeter.

Visitors

Pineapples are the symbol of hospitality. Other than that this doesn't make any sense. I know it's unfinished, but I am sleepy & just want to post for the sake of not breaking my strong Illo Friday streak (every week since June 15!).

The Importance of Good Signage

The House of Oranges used to be one of those best-kept secrets that only the locals knew about. Now, with their new sign, it's not a secret anymore.

From Heaven to Trees to Us

A visual poem about the creation of oranges.

I looked up visual poetry on Wikipedia & on the rest of the internet and couldn't figure out what counts as visual poetry and what doesn't.

I consider this more of a poem than anything else, because I was in a poetic state of mind while creating this.

Discovery

This astro-orange is thrilled to discover a new planet filled with nothing but new and unusual varieties of orange trees.
Note: this was subconsciously inspired by another illustration friday drawing, although it was completely unintended: http://flickr.com/photos/frank-h-art/800081888/in/pool-illustrationfriday/

Vote for me on Threadless!

After dreaming about it for 2-3 years, I've finally submitted a drawing to Threadless and gotten it approved for scoring.

If you have a moment, go check it out and vote 5 + "I'd buy it $" if you enjoy it.
So Close, Yet So Far - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

There are 70 other designs still in the running right now, 212 total designs submitted, and the comments about it have been mixed, so it would mean a lot to me if you voted. :)
